Yorker will make his UK debut in the Gr3 Strensall Stakes at York

After last being seen on a racetrack in the 2014 Gr1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge at Clairwood, South Africa’s 2013 Summer Cup winner Yorker makes his UK debut in the Gr3 Betfred Mobile Strensall Stakes at the Ebor Festival at York today.

The race, which was won by ill-fated Summerhill stallion Mullins Bay in 2005, is run over an extended mile (1 mile 208 yards) and the field will face the starter at 14:15 (15:15 local time).  Yorker, who is currently in the care of Newmarket trainer William Haggas, lines up in a field of 10, including early favourite Scottish (trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick) and HM The Queen’s Diploma, who will be saddled by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Andrea Atzeni.

The 7yo Jet Master gelding races in the colours of The Yorker Syndicate and has the services of Pat Cosgrave in the saddle.

Yorker is also among 55 entries for the Group 1 Champion Stakes at Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot on 15 October 2016.
