Zim Result Error?

Efforts made to secure copy of photo-finish

numbesAn investigation has been opened into the final result of the fifth race at Borrowdale Park on Sunday after it appears that the incorrect horse was declared the winner.

While the finish to the race was a tight one, it was clear to many observers – including eagle eyed commentator Nico Kritsiotis in the Tellytrack studio – that the Bridget Stidolph trained Print The Pounds had beaten Gokhan Tezi’s Eurakilon.

Confusion reigned and Kriotsiotis eventually announced just prior to the sixth race, that there was no objection.

We had all obviously seen incorrectly, as the judge placed Eurakilon ahead of Print The Pounds (on the outside in yellow silks).

According to our sources, controversy and speculation was rife on course and a copy of the photo finish that was passed around in the MOTA bar seemed to confirm the error in the result.

The Sporting Post has emailed Chief Stipe Martin Ball and NHA Racing Control Executive Arnold Hyde, requesting a copy of the photograph.

Ironically the owners of Eurakilon also own Super Trouper, who lost out in very similar fashion some time ago.

The unlucky Print the Pounds belongs to the Sunmark Syndicate.
