Charity Turf Challenge – 21 Points Seperate Top Ten

Next leaderboard on 10 June

HAWWAAM established himself as the dominant middle distance performer of his generation when comfortably taking the Gr1 Daily News 2000 from the hard-knocking TWIST OF FATE, both now leading point scorers in the competition.

After months of speculation, in his post-race interview with Deez Dyanand, Mike de Kock confirmed Hawwaam’s participation in the Vodacom Durban July subject to the go-ahead from his owner, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This will add greatly to South Africa’s most famous race and an exciting clash against the Cape’s top performers is now firmly on the cards.

In the fillies equivalent, the Gr1 Woolavington Stakes, SILVANO’S PRIDE appreciated the step up in trip when turning the tables on FRONT AND CENTRE earning 20 and 14 points respectively. BLOSSOM gave credibility to Highveld form in finishing third.

With only 21 points separating the top ten entries, the competition remains wide open and after the weekend results, SHIVI3ZN 21 is the new leader on 199 points.
