Smith Looking At A Good Day

First race and Bipot opener is off at 12h35

The Fairview turf track is officially soft (pen reading of 30) as it hosts the final feature of the 2018/19 season on an eight race programme today.

Last Friday’s meeting at the same venue was switched to the polytrack and there will be hopes that today’s meeting goes ahead on the grass.

The R200 000 Listed Champion Juvenile Cup is the chief feature and is run over 1400m.

Greg Cheyne and Alan Greeff have enjoyed a top season again and they team up with what looks to be the right horse in the 2yo son of Bold Silvano, Foreign Source.

A two-time winner from six starts, he was a comfortable winner of his last start over the course and distance.

An interesting runner, Self Assured, who will have Lyle Hewitson up will not go down without a fight. The son of Captain Al won his only race by 3,75 lengths.

The Gavin Smith pair of Gold Dragon and Sir Caleb can also be included on their best form.

The false rail is set at 4m off zero to the 1200m, increasing to 4,5m to the 800m mark, with a 6,5m spur.
