The first Gauteng meeting of the 2020/2021 season is held at Turffontein today, where the first race kicks off at 12h50.

Jimmy The Rich writes that in-form Hollywoodbets sponsored trainer Stuart Pettigrew sends out Vars Vicky in the second race with Diego De Gouveia in the saddle.

The son of Var ran a very good race on debut when finishing second behind the well backed Captain Morisco.

He didn’t get off to the best of starts that day and hung in the latter stages, but the manner in which he fought to the line was encouraging. He would have gained from the experience and in this type of field, should take a power of beating.

The best value on the day comes in the last race on the card, at around 7/1, in the form of Smoke.

He took on much stronger company in his last start and was not disgraced when finishing fifth.

The son of Querari takes a drop in class this afternoon and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, he must be included in all bets.
