Mixed Charity At Draw Function

Buffalo Bill gets the 12 gate

There were mixed fortunes for the leading stables of Mike de Kock and Sean Tarry at the draw function for the R1-million Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile held at Emperors Palace on Wednesday,

The Gr2 race over 1600m on the Standside track at Turffontein will be run on Saturday 2 November.

Mike de Kock and Sean Tarry – mixed luck

Both Tarry and De Kock have four runners in the main draw and while Tarry’s runners drew stalls No 7, 8, 9, and 11, De Kock’s runners had a spread from No 4 to the widest of all in the 16-horse field.

From the Tarry yard Zillzaal drew No 7, Tilbury Fort at No 8, Pilou at No 10 and In The Dance at No 11.

De Kock won’t be thrilled that Buffalo Bill Cody drew No 12 while Barahin, who tends to drop out at the start, landed No 4 draw. Cascapedia is at No 5 but Noble Secret will start from the outside of the field.

Bob Yearham, Chief Operations Officer for Emperors Palace, welcomed all the guests and alluded to the importance of the Charity Mile for their organization. “This is a day we look forward to because it is a foundation event on our calendar.”

The 16 selected charities were paired with their respective celebrities and then they drew for horses. The charities will share in R1 million which will be distributed according to where their horses finish.
