Grand Stuff At The Vaal Today

Jackpot 1 starts in the fifth race at 14h15

An exciting ten-race programme takes place at the Vaal this afternoon.

There are three feature races including the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage, Non-Black Type WSB Sophomore 1000 and the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation.

The first is due off at 11h50.

Jimmy The Rich writes that Angelsea from the Mike de Kock stable takes her place in Race 1 and she should give punters a good start to the day.

She raced from a handy position over 1600m at Turffontein last time, tried hard all the way to the line but found one too good in the form of Thunder Shower.

The daughter of Var is a progressive type and will enjoy the extra distance on offer.

Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

Lucky Houdalakis saddles Spanish Boy in the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation.

He was running on too late in his last start over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. He finished third in the 2020 Grand Heritage with 53kgs on his back.

The son of Silvano has had the perfect preparation heading into this contest and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, he should be the one to beat.
