Breeding And Racing Partners Sought

Look at my strike rate and the reward for the future - and I want to go into China

If I have not had so much continuous and repeated success, I would have packed my bags and left this game.  The problem is I keep getting good horses – and if these are fillies, I have to decide on selling them or keeping them for racing and breeding, writes Winston Chow.

Of course I am financially limited to not keeping too many!

The Apache - Gr1 winner.

The Apache – Gr1 winner.

I already had that problem when the first runner I ever bred  won the Australian Oaks (come back to that later).

She was sold on the cheap because I have numerous and had to sell!  That is why I need more people to join forces to keep on breeding and racing.

As my understanding and selection is very different to the usual people and I can back that up with statistics and reasoning.

So that is the basis for writing this to explain why you will benefit racing and breeding with me, I will improve your success and relatively, I spend a lot less!

I need partners too to make a name for myself as I want to go into China with my statistics to bring more people in the game and especially South Africa and whoever breeds with me will be in a position to profit from this in future.

It is going to be a long investment but I intend to be very successful.

If you go to www.horsechinaone.com (the biggest horse racing website in China) and also, Racing Post UK tried the China market for over five years now, cannot even come close and that is because they don’t understand and have the relationship in China.

I wrote numerous posts/blogs about South Africa since last April and the website owner already asked me to contact the highest authority in auction/racing and sales/exports in SA.

Peter Gibson

Peter Gibson

I notified Peter Gibson that they want to do a proper interview with him about auction, racing in South Africa and aslo import and exports.

It is all happening as far as I can tell.

You will notice that website is affiliated with Ryder Horse Group as well as Kylin Group and they have numerous posts and news updates. Ryder Horse Group bought over 1000 thoroughbreds from New Zealand last couple of years.

The owner Lang Lin is the owner of Mongolian Khan and that group, together with other Chinese players buy big, Chinese is infact the top foreign buyer at the first premier sale in Australia this year, wait and see what happens in the NZB sale as I write this up today (Karaka starts today 25/1/2016).

They (website and Chinese buyers which I cannot name right now) asked me a lot of information and I am pushing for them to let me buy for them in South Africa.   If I can string all these things together, there can only be huge success for all parties in future for South African Horse Racing.

Success so far…

It is easy to list all the good horses that I have picked just like other people advertising themselves but the difference in my case, is the relative ratio of success (which you will not find elsewhere) and also I can explain the reason behind the picks.

Vengeance Of Rain

Vengeance Of Rain

I can tell you my success in getting black type is 20% plus and I have selected or bred Group 1 horses from just about 60 picked unraced horses or self bred horses.  So for those who wondered about Vengeance Of Rain, I bought him after his racing results, so does not count.

Check on Formgrids or Arions, all open for you to check me out.  On top of all that, I often found value buys, as in horses ignored by others thus cheap!

In South Africa:

Black Type

Markofdistinction

The Apache

Big City Angel

Current Event

Vino Veritas

Heavenisaracehorse

 Almost Black Type

Slinky The Cat, eight lengths demolition of King’s Temptress to second after she had got Group form!  Unsound horse so cannot produce for BT.

Current Event wins the Gr3 Cape Summer Stayers Handicap

Current Event

Shadows in the Sun, raced in the three year old BT races and all so close, problem is that she races on the speed, very disadvantaged at Standside Turffontein.

Retrospectively, a different racing program would have been better but that is racing!

Queen of The Sky probably does not even come close by my standards but Anthony Delpech said black type and he is a friend whose words I trust!  So I just mention her as I think I can breed a very good horse from her.

Mark Tarry did advise me to breed her to What A Winter and that is what I did.

Seul Amour this season though and my decision solely!

Imported – 3 horses from New Zealand

Set Me Free is a multi winner albeit at Fairview

Forgive No Forget is Group Class, retired due to being unsound!

The Centenary is Group Class and still racing!

A side story is that I missed out on Noah for Goa!

I had asked a friend, Leon Setaro to bid to R300k on him.

What happened is that Leon thought he bought at R300k but apparently the auctioneer said Leon bought at R320k AFTER THE HAMMER HAD FALLEN because 2 persons simultaneously bid at R300k!  What a cock up!

Noah From Goa wins Cape Guineas

Noah From Goa wins Cape Guineas

Leon immediately went to cancel the sale while contacting me as that was over my limit.  I told Leon I will take the horse at R320k.  All this can be confirmed by Hawkins at TBA, or Mary (I hope she remembers).

Mary of course was so miffed off  with the sale and refused to reinstate the sale to me and the horse was kept and posted as sold at R325k to Mike De Kock.

I wonder why R300k goes to R320k then R325k?

I am sure TBA will also have video footage to support what I said.

Sporting Post did an article on Mary only a few weeks ago about Noah From Goa.

I also have evidence that I only asked to bid on 2 horses via email to Leon and again shows my strike rate.

The Apache and Big City Angel was a 2 from 2.  Vino Veritas was a 1 from 2.  Current Event, Dual Asset/ Mac The Dancer was a 3 from 3.  Heavenisarachorse and Queen of the Sky were a 2 from 5!

Markofdistinction is worth a mention as she ought to be much more expensive and Current Event is the best Go Deputy so far!

I believe Queen Of The Sky will breed a group horse – judge me in a few years time!

Wait till I tell you what happened in Australia!

Seul Amour

Seul Amour

I had bred Queen of The Sky to Seul Amour, I really like this stallion, so cheap and the statistics are better than some of the top sires, on top of that, poor quality mares used!

I was discussing with Brad, the stallion owner and I said, if I had picked I would have got both the existent group horses out of Seul Amour!

I will make another statement for you to judge me in a few years time, I really believe in this as I had used Seul Amour this year and last year on 3 matings to support my reasoning!

The statement is I will breed whatever female Seul Amours to The Apache and my odds of getting a group horse will be way above average, probably 20%, just wait and see!

Now to Australia & New Zealand:

The first ever bred runner I had is Gust of Wind!  Winner of the Australian Oaks, winner by 2 lengths and the runner up is Winx, which won or placed in all her group races subsequently, including Group Ones, I think won all five in a row after that second, check racenet!  She will probably make Horse of the Year!

Gust Of Wind, a stayer is of course aimed for the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup, 2 million and over 6 million Aussie Dollars respectively!

Gust Of Wind could have come much better than 4th in the Caulfield if she was not closed on the rail and come out as earlier as Mongolian Khan. I think she was close to winning that!  As for the Melbourne Cup, she got chopped by Frankie Dettori while at full stride and accelerating!  She would have won the Melbourne Cup, serious, please check both Cup races on Youtube!

But do not forget to check how she won her maiden at Scone on youtube!  Even more amazing win!

So why I mention all this apart from breeding a group one winner my first try!  That is because I want to breed, race and be successful!

Gavin van Zyl

Gavin van Zyl

I asked Gavin Van Zyl to find me a partner to ship her over to SA from NZ!

In fact both full sisters!  And Gavin got Jason Jago to ride her (to test her out) which of course you won’t feel much on a stayer as a 2 year old, so opportunity lost and I had to sell her cheap at Karaka Premier!

Sister is available to transport to SA in foal to Rip Van Winkle! Check that mating out!  I believe group class and possibly world class!

Fastnet Rock

Fastnet Rock

To further back me up, I had gone into a foal share deal with Coolmore on Starrystarrynight(dam of Gust of Wind) on Fastnet Rock (200k Aussie a shot!)

Coolmore wants to do it three years in a row subject to the first one come out alright!  All on record!

So much to say and so much to squeeze into one writing!

I need racing and breeding partners in my horses, let me know which one you are interested in, I have too many!

Also, look at my strike rate and the reward for the future!  Plus of course how undervalued my picks are!
