NHA: Delpech Failed To Ride Mount Out

Inquiry Board fined Mr Delpech the sum of R10 000.

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 26 September 2016, Jockey Anthony Delpech was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3, in that as the rider of LAUREL CHERRY in Race 2 at the Vaal Racecourse on 1 September 2016, he failed to ride this filly out to the end of this race when competing for 2nd place.

Mr Delpech pleaded not guilty to the charge, however, after considering the evidence, the Board found him guilty.

In arriving at a suitable penalty, the Inquiry Board considered that it had difficulty in drawing the definite conclusion that the actions of Mr Delpech, in not riding LAUREL CHERRY out within her final stride of this race, had cost this filly 2nd place.

Under the circumstances, the Inquiry Board fined Mr Delpech the sum of R10 000.

Mr Delpech has the right of appeal against both the finding and the severity of the penalty.
