Ridgemont Highlands’ five time Gr1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs enjoyed a good weekend with his runners in Australia this past weekend.
The former champion had a treble of winners in Australia over the weekend, with his runners scoring at Gilgandra, Wangaratta and Warrnambool.

Canford Cliffs’ 3yo gelded son Count Of Carford got off the mark at the fourth time of asking when he scored a 3.5 length win over 1100m at Wangaratta on Saturday.
Out of the Danerich mare Pitch Perfect, Count Of Carford is trained by Brendan Mccarthy and he was ridden on Saturday by Daniel Stackhouse.
His sire enjoyed a quick double in Australia on Sunday, with Canford Cliffs’ daughter Miss Hugo A Gogo (a winner of two of her last three starts) scoring over 1200m at Gilgandra, and his son Cozhecancan shedding his maiden over 1200m at Warrnambool on the same day.
Winner of all of the Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas, Gr1 St James’s Palace Stakes, Gr1 Sussex Stakes, Gr1 Lockinge Stakes and Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes, Canford Cliffs is currently responsible for 25 black type performers including the group/graded stakes winners Cliff’s Edge, Posh Princess, Fish River, Most Beautiful, Al Jazi, Painted Cliffs and Princess Asta.
He stood his first season at Ridgemont Highlands for a fee of R30 000.
