Exciting Captain’s Ransom Is Back

The Bipot starts in the first at 13h05

An exciting eight-race programme is set for Durbanville this afternoon.

Eight races are carded including the Gr3 Diana Stakes and the Gr3 #ThisIsRacing Matchem Stakes.

The first is due off at 13h05.

Captain’s Ransom from the powerful Justin Snaith stable takes her place in Race 6. She was a tad disappointing in the Grade 1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes last time.

The classy daughter of Captain Al returns from a 13-week break which would have done her the world of good.

She is unbeaten from two starts on this course, including a victory in this race last year. She races well fresh and should notch up her seventh career victory.

Trainer Mike Stewart saddles Helen’s Blush in the lucky last. She is much better than her last start over 2400m.

She returns from a 14-week break which may have done her the world of good. Her penultimate effort when finishing second over this distance at Kenilworth was encouraging.

She won her only attempt over this course and distance. She jumps from pole position and if not in need of the run, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

Anthony Andrews will not be riding today due to family responsibilities.

The false rail is set at 4m out on the back straight with a 5m spur at approximately the 550m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 13h05
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h40
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 14h15
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 14h52
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 15h27
