Rasheeda Shaw has approached the Sporting Post with a special request to express her family’s deepest gratitude and thanks to the overwhelming tide of well-wishers that responded to the news that her husband, South Africa’s leading horseracing television personality Shaheen, had been admitted to hospital on Friday morning, following a heart attack.
“Shaheen will be in hospital for a few more days. The medical personnel have been fantastic and are taking the necessary precautions to make sure he is stable. He is still in ICU and being treated,” she said on Sunday morning.
She added that the number of messages that had been sent via email, sms, Whatsapp and to Facebook were deeply appreciated and had in fact bordered on the surreal.
“I didn’t know so many people were interested or cared this much! As a family we are so grateful – words escape us how to describe the interest! And I feel so bad that I cannot reply to each person individually. But I have our baby with me and it has just become too much for me to answer everyone. To anybody who may read this, please know that your message has been read to Shaheeen and that your words and thoughts mean so much to all of us.”
