The Firsts Are Flying!

New trainers break the ice

Ashley Fortune’s glorious first winner in the Gr3 Gold Bowl at Turffontein last Saturday has opened the floodgates of a week of firsts.

New conditioners Fabian Habib and Chesney van Zyl broke their respective ice at the Vaal on Thursday with Sail For Joy (Ryan Munger) and Barbie Doll (Call Murray) winning.

Then at the Turffontein workriders meeting on Saturday, another newbie in Stephen Lerena opened his account when Thomas Ncume steered Two Guns to victory.

Congratulations to all our new trainers!

The Sporting Post interviewed Lerena in February when he took out his licence.
