Time Thief’s Australian Stakes Success

Eagle Farm winner

A day before Canford Cliffs sired an Italian Gr3 winner, another Cape-based sire produced a smart stakes winner at Eagle Farm in Australia

One of six stakes winners for Nadeson Park’s royally-bred Redoute’s Choice sire Time Thief, In Good Time led all the way in Saturday’s Listed Ascot Quality run over 1200m at Eagle Farm.

Breednet report that the 5yo mare was the outsider of the field under Dale Smith and held the challenge of Bandipur (Commands) by one and a quarter lengths with Scallopini (Snitzel) a nose back in third.

“It was a top-notch effort from her today and the exciting part for trainer Tracy (Bartley) and the connections is that I think she’s only going to improve this preparation, she was only third up today,” Smith said.

Purchased privately for A$40,000 by part-owner Gerard Maher from breeder Bernie Howlett, In Good Time has come back from a severed tendon to advance her record to 7 wins, 1 second and 2 thirds from 22 starts with earnings of A$334,050.

Maher ended up purchasing In Good Time’s dam Turbo Rose off Howlett when she was carrying a now yearling colt by Twin Hills Stud’s Odyssey Moon, which was put through the Berkeley Park Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where he failed to make his A$25,000 reserve.

In Good Time is the best of four winners from five to race out of the winning Strategic mare Turbo Rose who hails from the family of outstanding stallion Centaine.

Arran Stud are offering a grey Time Thief filly named Silvery Blue (#85) out of the well-related Aussie-bred So You Think mare Figure Of Eight on the Klawervlei Online Sale which commences today.
