Protest Jocks – Majority To Face Inquiry In May

Mr. Parks , Steinhof instigated and caused the loss of millions but we still had no right to go and sort them out with violance and should we have done so we would have had to face the consequences of any violent act , we do not want to punish Gavin for that act as you put it , he has punished himself for that act , the protest saga was caused by the immediate suspension of GvN when what was required was a cool head and had the NHA have felt agrieved by his comments they should have opened an inquiry and allowed due process to follow , your last sentance is an over simplification of how this very serious incident must be resolved and Gavin can be thankful that he did not receive an immediate suspension after that race for assualt as is provided for in the NHA rules.

My advice to Gavin is , withdraw your appeal , accept the sanction , come back after suspension , display your excellent race riding skills we all know you possess and thereby turn the unfortunate matter into the

You are aware that the jockey first priority when riding is to try and give his mount the best possible chance of achieving the best placing for a horse? If you want to take your frustrations out do it in the jockey room after the race or in the bloody carpark don't do it while the race is on and you are meant to be trying to achieve the best possible placing for the owner trainer and

I'm sure Soumillon incident with Rossa Ryan was far less than what Gavin did. However look at the world wide reaction and punishment Soumillon received.

If a rider did what Gavin did in Australia, Hong Kong, England or America what do you think the outcome would be?

Honestly it's not hard to see that the rot lies in South African Racing Authories and the autocracy in decision making and judgment. There is absolutely no fairness, equality or transparency in the decision making processes when dishing punishment.

Worse this is now entitled behavior by Gavin, as he is a world class jockey who has ridden overseas and should know he is getting off lightly but still chooses to go this route.

How do you think jockeys like Muzi, Bling, Zackey and JP not to mention Grant feel, when they look at the punishment they receive in terms of fines in comparison to Gavin.

I've never heard of such violence in racing anywhere in the world being tolerated yet here you are justifying that racing in tight quarters allows you justification to assault someone. If the Cape jockey who were like freedom fighters standing up against a form of oppression can get fines like they are getting for bringing racing into disrepute, what on earth did Gavin do and is his punishment not lenient.

Objective criteria is a serious problem in this

Hello Cecil,

Hoe gaan dit met U? My Afrikaans is not my strongpoint.

I think Eight On Eighteen will be ok over 1600m. He nearly beat One Stripe in the Cape Guinea's.
It will be interesting to see how he quickens in the short Greyville straight; however, he has shown that has natural acceleration, as in the Derby where he turned it on in a blink of the eye.
A lovely Season beckons.

Which meeting would take preference in terms of the riding arrangements? The postponed meeting or the Scottsville Sunday meeting?
I would think the Scottsville meeting. There must be a rule in place about this

When and if it is at all possible will there be an enquiry into the behavior of the NHA and its so called responsible officials....does it require a parliamentary review ? Should I contact the local MP? The minister of sport who apparently did not know that horse racing was part of his brief? If people can continue to operate with seemingly ZERO accountability we can just expect more of the
