Turffontein Racemeeting Postponed To Sunday

Hi Mr. Ed,

Which meeting would take preference in terms of the riding arrangements? The postponed meeting or the Scottsville Sunday meeting?
I would think the Scottsville meeting. There must be a rule in place about this

Protest Jocks – Majority To Face Inquiry In May

When and if it is at all possible will there be an enquiry into the behavior of the NHA and its so called responsible officials....does it require a parliamentary review ? Should I contact the local MP? The minister of sport who apparently did not know that horse racing was part of his brief? If people can continue to operate with seemingly ZERO accountability we can just expect more of the

Protest Jocks – Majority To Face Inquiry In May

Remember JG instigated that incident, Gavin only reacted in frustration, yes 100% wrong and but JG mount bumped and stuck he FIRST with the crop so he was being unsafe first, no one would of noticed it but we want to punish Gavin for standing for himself and his mounts. Remember blurred vision would not of finished ahead on that day were in it not for INTERFERENCE started by JG. Same goes for GvN and the result was affected by interference and bumping, that's unsafe for our for our horses n the sport. As for this protest saga, they went about it the wrong way if the wanted a meeting to address their grievances they should of requested for that. They just went to an uncalled for protest which led to a loss of race meetings, they must face the music. Triple their fines. Give Gavin a last chance, shake hands and forget about it, rather address the root

Turffontein Racemeeting Postponed To Sunday

Hi Sean
According to the NRB , the jockey overlap is 8.
Spoke to 4Racing's Gabi Soma, who confirms that they applied their minds against the background of the riderless loose horse that is the weather.
He says that ito policy/ rules, they are not supposed to postpone non-feature racemeetings.
But an exception was made today, ivo the number of lost meetings in recent months.
Tomorrow there is already a double-header, Saturday they have The Championships finale - so Sunday was logical choice. He also states that the option of a Sunday double header as opposed to a Monday double-header from the betting turnover side, suggests Sunday a better option. Gabi says that from the aspect of the jockeys, they will make a call and bring jockeys in if so required. It is also fair to say, but definitely not wished for, that Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday could be marginal, given the prevailing inclement weather in KZN.
So it's a balancing act in the hands of the weather

Lerena To Appeal Gates Crop Incident Findings And Penalties

Greetings
As someone who has seen the race replays over a 100x by now, I can't stand by these comments bashing Mr Lerena. Who was the instiGATEtor in this incident? The only reason this incident has blown is because of Lerena's frustrated reactions, if not it would unnoticed like many other interferences in racing today. For those who don't know what I am talking about go watch replays again very carefully. GimmeAStorm was shortly out the maidens thereafter and albeit would not of beat Great Notion on the day I have no doubt Mr Gates and his mount clearly prevented the fav in that race from getting finishing in the top 3.

1. Mr Gates mount bumped/drifted onto GimmeAStorm and kept him from getting to the better going on this inside of the track
2.Mr Gates crop stuck Gavin/his horse first.
These incidents are often overlooked when not affecting the winner of the race so if we not going to address that, if it was just going to be ignored then why are we crucifying Gavin for reacting in frustration. After all, he is concerned for his own mounts safety and doing his best for the

Lerena To Appeal Gates Crop Incident Findings And Penalties

Assault by an independent contractor would see that person never allowed on company premises again. Let a spectator assault someone or an NHA worker or jockey at the race course....that person I am sure would be banned for life from the course. Not sure how he can contest the ruling as the video is plain to see what happened. Provoked or not one should never hit a fellow worker at their workplace. I would think that at most places of work that is a firing

Frankie Zackey..It came down practically the whole day and evening yesterday and the whole morning,,with no sun in sight Saturdays meeting could be in trouble ... The postponed meeting today for Sunday should have been put on hold until tomorrow.. Our operator's need to re-think Saturdays meeting if we are to experience anymore rain during the day and evening,, moving it to Sunday,,if we experience more rain would be the right call...The weather forecast hasn't been the best guide of

Cape Jockey Protest – JP Van der Merwe Fined

Christain we know we have a lot to learn.
But did the assistant starter see horse that dislikes starting stalls go in last.
Go in and back gates closed.
White flag goes up. Correct move, do you think?
Remember when Khumalo was in stalls and decided to have a cup of tea. While having last sip.
Starter was given the white flag. Starter let field go
No false start
Horse was deemed in stall and under starter

Entries In For Champions Season Opener On 3 May

Hey CJ, nice to hear from you, yes kwaZULU winter (best) season again.
And NO Do it Again anymore, lol

Oh yes, 8 on 18 for me as well. Although One Stripe ran past him over 1600, I knew he'll win the Met, and confident early and only July choice

My 2nd favorite is the Scottsville day, now only 3 Gr1's. Greeff will win the fillies race, let's wait for the fields, but normally a Tarry day !

3 strong fields here, nice start, agree, 8 on 18 will run a place here. Main Defender, wide draw !
Cosmic Speed might still run the Guineas

Cheers CJ, so much negativity in our game at the moment. But still love the horses, and a punt 👍🏼

Stops And Starts At Fairview On Tuesday

Good morning.
Ive been racing since late 1960s.
I am 77 years.
Ive been watching the races on Gallop TV for the last three years or so.
However, what I've noticed in the last six months or so is the very UNPROFESSIONAL way the WHOLE LOADING PROCESS is handled.
I saw one loading process a few months ago and when I had crossed over to GALLOP TV, I actually thought I had crossed over to a picnic.
All that was missing were the blankets and baskets of food!.
* About six jockeys off their horses.
Ive NEVER seen a race going off at the scheduled RACE TIME, ie say 15.15.
They are ALWAYS late.
Overseas they LOAD AND GO.
In SOUTH AFRICA the handlers are running around like headless chickens.
The person in charge is definitely NOT IN CONTROL.
Why are shoes changed at the start?
Surely all these things should be checked BEFORE they enter the PARADE RING?
And when 6 handlers are battling with ONE horse, the others don't go in?
Why not?
The jockeys and handlers have got NO PERCEPTION OF TIME.
I'm a SOUTH AFRICAN, but am sorry to say that the WHOLE LOADING PROCESS IS VERY
