On Saturday, 07 July the 115th running of Africa’s Greatest Horseracing Event took place at Greyville Racecourse. Princess Victoria (Victory Moon) won the Gr.1 Garden Province Stakes earning 20 points. The Gr.2 Mango Gold Vase was won by the son of Silvano, Seal scoring 14 points and in the Gr.3 Schweppes 2200 it was Tribal Dance (Tiger Dance) that found the winners enclosure, scoring 9 points. Joint leaders “Connors Spur” and “Brian Easthorpe 3” on 222 points and 3rd placed “Cargo Movers 1” on 220 points have gained a useful lead in the competition going into the Gr.1 Mercury Sprint on Saturday, 14 July and the last bonus race of the competition, the Gr.1 Ladbrokes Gold Cup which also features the Gr.1 Champions Cup and the Gr.2 Gold Bracelet on “Super Saturday”, 28 July. Whilst its valuable points in the bag for the top 3, the competition is definitely not done and dusted and judging by the selection of horses that the TOP 50 have in the competition, the 2012 competition is in for a nail biting finish.

On Vodacom Durban July Day there were 4 spot prize draws on Tellytrack. This is a computer generated, random draw from all entrants and not dependent on points earned. Each winner receives a R500 telephone betting deposit kindly sponsored by TAB GOLD “The Intelligent Bet”. The winners are:

  • Nothings Gonna Break My Stride 8
  • Woodhurst
  • Black Horse
  • JD

CONGRATULATIONS to the 4 winners!

As and when Charity Turf Challenge horses earn points, we will update the Racing South Africa website and email data-base: www.racingsouthafrica.co.za
