A Return To Durbanville Today

The first is off at 13h20

Racing returns to Durbanville this afternoon after an absence of almost five months, and eight races are scheduled.

The last time we raced at Durbanville was 20 October 2020.

The partnership of trainer Andre Nel and Grant van Niekerk will be worth following. They team up in five races, all of which they have a decent chance of winning.

The first race is due off at 13h20.

Jimmy The Rich writes Rose Princess takes her place in Race 3 on the card. She has produced three decent efforts to date.

She raced green around the turn last time, but moved up well before getting outrun in the latter stages.

The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade will love the extra furlong on offer and the blinkers should keep her mind on the task at hand. This is not the strongest of fields and she should take a power of beating.

Vaughan Marshall saddles The Cambo in Race 5. He showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this distance at Kenilworth.

He should have finished closer that day as he shifted away from the crop in the closing stages.

He meets a similar type of field today and if keeping on a straight line, he should go one better here.

The false rail is set at zero on the back straight with a 2.5m spur at approximately the 550m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 13h20
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h55
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 14h35
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 15h10
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 15h45
