Ebony Flyer misses Natal season

Ebony Flyer Cape Fillies Guineas winner

Ebony Flyer underwent surgery on Monday at the equine clinic of Dr. John McVeigh to correct a problem with her throat. She had a tie back operation.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Gary Priest, an equine practitioner from Versailles, Kentucky. Dr. Priest, 56, worked alongside famous American vet Dr. Alex Harthill at their Harthill/Priest Equine Surgery for several years.

The filly is expected to require a period of 6 weeks to recover from the operation and will miss the Durban season.  She will point for the Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate in January in Cape Town.
