Gavin van Zyl has fired Brandon Lerena and Anthony Delpech will take over on Thekwini winner Along Came Polly in the Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Van Zyl said earlier: “I have finished with him after the way he rode No Worries in the Green Point. I don’t know what he thought he was doing going a flat out gallop into the South Easter. Piere Strydom will ride No Worries on Saturday week and I have also booked him for the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and the J & B Met.”Lerena rode Along Came Polly to win the Thekwini, when she was second in the Golden Slipper and on her last start in the Choice Carriers Championship when she was drawn 11. She and stable companion Mohave Princess (Bernard Fayd’Herbe) are now well drawn at five and two.

Van Zyl has moved his Cape Town string from Mike Stewart’s yard on Noordhoek beach to the Philippi training centre and said: “I wasn’t sure how well I had the beach sussed up and I didn’t want to risk it for the Group races. Philippi puts me more in the picture with standard distances and surfaces.” Richard Fourie, bidding for his third Cape Fillies Guineas win, has switched from Choice Carriers runner-up Highly Decorated to In The Fast Lane who won that race under Sean Cormack.

Cormack won the 2011 Cape Fillies Guineas on Princess Victoria and now partners She’s A Pippa. Strydom has been booked for Highly Decorated and Muzi Yeni is on the fourth Justin Snaith-trained runner, the badly drawn Darling Moon.
