The Vodacom Durban July racemeeting that takes place at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse this Saturday, July 6, is not under threat as erroneously reported on some national news services.
The Vodacom Durban July is run by Gold Circle Racing and Gaming, the licensed operators of horseracing in KwaZulu-Natal, and not Phumelela as falsely stated in these reports.
The threatened strike action is against Phumelela Gaming and Leisure who are currently undergoing a restructuring of their business that affects their employees.
It is all systems go for Saturday.
Hollywoodbets Greyville is decked out in its finest and the weather is set fair – a predicted 25 degrees – for the 50 000 people who are expected on course.
The sardines arrived this week and if legend holds true, favourite Hawwaam is the horse to bet on.
