Added Value Stakes Program

Current pot – R890 000

The BSA Added Value stakes program has been in existence for 10 years and was created to reward excellence in breeding and racing. It was spread across 14 stakes races for 2 year olds only and was funded by both breeders and buyers. We believe that we must retain the core essence of this program as that is how we better the breed. But it is time to revamp and modernise this scheme.

 .

The Future

R5 000 000 value added stakes pot per annum for 2 and 3 yr old black type races.

The new program incorporates all 76 graded and listed (black type) races for 2 and 3 year olds. Winners of black type races will be rewarded for performance on the track. Rewarding excellence and shaping the breed.

The program will mean a R5 000 000 added value stakes pot per annum. R3 250 000 to be distributed amongst owners. R500 000 to be split amongst trainers. R1 000 000 for breeders. R250 000 to the NHT and Horse Care Units.

How It Works

• Buyers have a choice to sign up to this program by ticking the box when they buy a yearling or 2yo at any of our sales.
• Note buyer buy-in is voluntary, but with 76 races there is a much higher chance of winning.
• The buyer buy-in at the NYS is R5000 (+ vat).
• Buyer buy-in at all other sales is R2500 (+ vat).
• Pay out only if BSA graduate wins the race.
