NHA: Marwing Positive

Marwing pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.

National Horseracing AuthorityThe National Horseracing Authority confirms that an inquiry was held at its offices at Turffontein Racecourse on Wednesday, 11 February 2015, which was adjourned and resumed on Wednesday, 18 March 2015.

Mr Marwing was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.7 in that specimens taken from the horses UNCLE TOMMY andJONOVICH, at his racing stables at Turffontein on 22 October 2014, were found to contain the prohibited substance Flunixin, a prohibited substance in terms of Rule 73.4.

Mr Marwing pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

After considering all the facts relevant to this matter, the Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R25 000.00, of which R10 000.00 is wholly suspended for a period of 12 months on condition that Mr Marwing is not found guilty of an offence in terms of Rule 73.2.7 over the said period.
