Show Me The Money

I write this note the day after the Met. It is Sunday 2 February and is the third time I have been told by my local Betting World tote that they do not have enough money. (requested R2500 this morning.)

This begs the question. Are the powers that be depositing OUR moneys in the bank , and making fat loads of interest? This is now the third time in a row this has happened. Surely the morning after the Met, there should be cash? How legal is this practice? Hopefully other suckers will voice their opinion!

Betting World Responds

Apologies for the delay in my response, but only saw the mail now. Could David please be more specific about which branch he tried to collect from. In the Western Cape and KZN, our TAB agencies floats and amount of cash banked or retained is dictated by Kenilworth Racing and Gold Circle.

In Gauteng, we have our own floats for our agencies and once again lend cash to the Tab if they are short and we have a surplus. It is our policy that if the Tab needs cash and we have excess we will loan it to them.

Ed note

We have advised Mr Weare that Mr Liebrecht conducts his business at Muizenberg branch. Mr Liebrecht has added that the staff there are ‘fantastic’. To be continued.
