Jockey Jarred Samuel Suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Jockey Jarred Samuel was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of CHORDAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BORN IN SPACE at approximately the 1200m mark of Race 7 at the Clairwood Racecourse on 27 January 2011.

Mr Samuel signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 2 February to 8 February 2011, both days inclusive.

Apprentice Jockey Ryan Curling Suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Apprentice Jockey Ryan Curling was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline C, in that when riding SALTWATER GIRL he used his crop in an unnecessary and excessive manner in Race 8 at the Turffontein Racecourse on 29 January 2011.

Mr Curling signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 2 February to 8 February 2011, both days inclusive.
