The coming week’s Cape Mare and Mixed Sale offers buyers the chance to acquire mares, fillies for stud, fillies/horses in training, 2yos and a number of well bred yearlings and weanlings.

AL MUFTI

Al Mufti

Al Mufti (Roberto – Lassie Dear)

A former champion sire, the late, great sire Al Mufti was champion broodmare sire in South Africa two seasons ago. Roberto’s well bred son has built up an outstanding record as a broodmare sire, with his daughters having produced numerous high class stakes winners- including such Gr1 winners as Bold Silvano, Elusive Gold, Jay Peg, Little Miss Magic, O Caesour and Yorker – to name but a few. Lot 32 Fireinthewoods – a half sister to Gr2 winning 2yo Winterinthewoods, Fireinthewoods’ second dam is outstanding broodmare Thousand Nights, dam of champion Highland Night and multiple Gr1 winner and promising sire Warm White Night. Lot 33 Five Star Girl – the blue blooded Five Star Girl is a full sister to Al Mufti’s Gr1 winning sons The Sheik and AL Nitak, who between them won four Grade One races. From the family of champions Politician and Ragusa, her own dam is former Broodmare Of The Year Jessamine. She sells in foal to Equus Champion and Dubai Gr1 winner Vercingetorix –and the resulting foal will carry a similar Silvano/Al Mufti cross to champions Bold Silvano and Kings Gambit

Lot 38 Gilded Minaret – winner of the Gr1 Golden Slipper and second in the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas, Gilded Minaret is out of a graded winning daughter of outstanding broodmare sire Dancing Champ and is bred on the same cross as UAE champion and ill-fated sire Victory Moon. She carries to the cover of Silvano’s champion son Vercingetorix.

Lot 57 Lanari Legacy – from the same female line as 2016 1000 Guineas winner Minding, this mare is a three parts sister to champion filly Arabian Lass, and is also closely related to Larapinta, dam of multiple Gr1 winner Smart Banker. Also from the family of the record breaking Silver Coin and Gr1 winning 2yo Casamento, Lanari Legacy, who won over 1200m, sells in foal to the versatile July winning champion Pomodoro.

Lot 71 Moonlite ‘n Roses – a half sister to Gr2 winner Vino Rosa, this mare is from the great Drohsky family and her close relatives include Gr1 winning sire Majestic Crown, champion sprinter Senor Santa and Cape Guineas winner Flight Alert. She sells in foal to Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate hero Gimmethegreenlight, who has made an excellent start with his first 2yos this season.

Lot 105 Regal Classic – a winning full sister to a stakes winner and stakes producer (also ancestress of high class performers Gothic and Lochlorien), this mare is another from the Drohsky branch responsible for the likes of Flight Alert, Majestic Crown, Senor Santa, Service Ace and Wheredowego, among others. Lot 119 Shareefa – a winner of 1400m and dam of 2 winners, Shareefa is a half sister to 2 black type performers and she sells in foal to Equus Champion and sensational young sire Elusive Fort.
